Doctor Who: The Chase

This Doctor Who story was first broadcast in six episodes in 1965.

It was written by Terry Nation.

This audio version is a reading of John Peel’s Target novelisation, narrated by Maureen O’Brien with Dalek voices provided by Nicholas Briggs. It also contains music and sound effects.

In the TARDIS, the four travellers are huddling around the Time-Space Visualiser, a television-like souvenir from their recent adventure at the Space Museum, which can pick up on any past event in the whole of time and space. They see a “broadcast” of the Daleks preparing to give a report. The Daleks’ plan to follow “the enemy time machine” (the TARDIS) to the Sagarro Desert on the planet Aridius. The Daleks plan to take the TARDIS, find the Doctor and his companions, and exterminate them.

This is quite a good story but not a great one. The TARDIS journeys to various locations in time and space in an attempt to escape the Daleks.

The reading is good with the use of Dalek voices increasing the interest. The addition of music and sound effects makes this seem more like one of Big Finish’s Companion Chronicles.
